A Reason to Celebrate

For 14 years and 11 months I’ve been running as fast as I can to navigate a small business. Over that time I’ve worked with some of the nicest, kindest and most creative folks working today. We’ve helped kick off careers for some, and a place to move to for others. We’ve hosted many practicum students. We’ve had many people shadow our team including our mail deliverer’s daughter.

We’ve been pressed by adversity many many times over the years, as have most who run a business. But somehow we came out of it, sometimes stronger.

This year has been quite a challenging one, and considering we are only half way through I can only imagine what is ahead. Maybe it is only positives and high fives but I’m not sure I believe that at the moment!

Sometimes a little thing can mean so much. Take last weekend. We watched a very different advertising awards show, COVID-style and streamed live on the internet. We won an award of distinction for a project for the Alberta Construction Safety Association.

We were also happy to see our partner FilmBratz win an ACE Award of Distinction for a Jiffy Lube ad we worked on together.

Here’s a quick view of the projects:

Facing Disruption

Client: Alberta Construction Safety Association

The theme of the 2019 annual construction safety conference spoke to how Alberta's construction industry can continue to adapt and thrive in an ever-changing world. The identity was created by Kate Lemke with support from Chris Reyes, and account management by Jane Hugo.

Keeping you moving

Client: Jiffy Lube Canada

Our relationship with Jiffy Lube starts even before Jiffy Lube launched in Western Canada. We got to assist in the transition of 50 Lube-X stores into Jiffy Lube. We also helped with the rollout of the new brand and authored their national positioning line, Keeping You Moving.

The ad below is an extension of the existing creative platform from a local Edmonton agency with an elevated twist in copy and scripting.

This television spot was produced by Hans Dys and his company FilmBratz, along with legendary copywriter Randy Diplock and the voice of the one and only Gord Marriott. Account management was by Valerie McKernan. I was thrilled to work with everyone to make this ad as well as seven other spots in the series.

Congratulations to Hans and his team, and we are thankful to have played a part in his success.
